If you want to reach your potential, you need to add strong work ethic to your talent
Sketch number 013 of my 365 in 365 challenge above (Sum of your Potential = Strong work ethic + Talent) came about as I was reading and well….thinking as usual. Many of us know persons who have great natural talent; whether it be in the arts, math, or just the way they think and figure things out. I have met a lot of them. I have also known great talents who never seemed to get a break…it just never worked out for them, many because of the decisions they made in their youth that kept them back from what their real potential was. I want to urge you…it is never too late. Really, it is not.
It may require more work and dedication due to additional responsibilities or distractions, but it is never too late. Just remember that a strong work ethic is a common factor among people who have achieved their goals. It is also a common factor among those trying just like you are, to achieve their goals and their dreams. Don’t give up. Everyday I wake up and I try again. I try, and I try again. The one thing I trust in is hard work, passionate work, meaningful work. What you get from total dedication to your craft, passion and desire, is indispensable. Don’t dwell on the words of others who may not understand or support you. I enter architecture competitions, design competitions, write, doodle, learn, research, read… Some days I say “too hell with this s**t“, other days I wake up and say, “ok, let me try this again…” or “let me try it this way instead.” I trust that the work I do will one day be beneficial, and help those with whom I share it. I trust in that…I have to. I urge you to do the same. Never give up! And in all you do, ALWAYS remember to thank those who have helped you along your journey…and pass it on.
